We'd like to thank the inventor of the wheel . . .

One thing that is obvious about New Yorkers right from the get go is that everyone is constantly on the move. Taxi cabs regularly outnumber regular non yellows on many streets and a glance in any direction at a busy intersection will give you a pretty good idea on how people get moving. Bicycles have become so prominent that now the main arteries have designated bike lanes complete with their own traffic lights. There's also no shortage of roller bladers and skate boarders, speed skaters, there's skaters being towed by dogs at full sprint and runners running solo and runners pushing baby carriages, and cops on horses. And then there's the water options.... water taxis, ferries, private sail and motor boats and that's just for starters..... people are getting around... some walking required.
